[ Reflexology - A Natural Art of Healing ]

About Reflexology

[ line ]

Like acupuncture, reflexology has been used by the Chinese for 5,000 years. It is a natural way to of stimulating the internal organs (through massage), increasing the circulation and restoring bodily functions to normal.

It was introduced into our medical profession in 1913, by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald. There can be great benefits derived from this wonderful art of healing. They tell us 80 percent of all illnesses suffered today are from tension and emotion. We can learn how to relieve this tension and relax ourselves using Reflexology.

By the proper method of pressure and massage to certain areas of the feet and hands (relative to corresponding parts of the body), you will notice the effects of stimulation and relaxation to those body parts. While searching for preventive health measures, do not bypass the many natural methods of healing and thus having to rely on the use of drugs. It is vital to our health and well being that we explore the natural techniques used for self healing.

We live in a drug-oriented society, and thus our nation is in turmoil. If only doctors would get away from drugs and lean more toward natural remedies & healing, there is a chance we could see a change for the better for our nation. Is prescription drug abuse as important to our society as the war on "illegal" drugs.

Timing of Massages

Vital organs should have their reflex areas massaged once a week. In acute cases, they may be massaged every third day. They should not be massaged any more often, because these important organs must have a chance to recuperate from each housecleaning. Ridding the body of those poisons sometimes causes the body to become very fatigued, and three days' rest between massages will relieve this fatigue.

Other parts of the body (the sinuses, the back, the head, the neck, and shoulder, etc.) may be massaged daily, even a few times a day.

The number of massages a person may require will depend on the age and recuperative powers of the person. Also the length of time the person has been "plagued" with the problem.

Using a loofah as your sponge when showering and washing toward or in the direction of the heart can be very relaxing. This would be a good way to relax prior to a massage, or at night before retiring; as a means of relaxing.
